Before moving from Venezuela to the United States, I had the most fun, and enjoyable Christmas ever. Our family was never alone, we all had days booked of plans due to so many invitations and people to see. For years, we all went to mass on Christmas eve at my school, and then head to the same house of the family member that would host every Christmas eve dinner, and we would then enjoy the time until it hit midnight where all the fireworks would go off announcing that “Christ has been born.” On Christmas day, our family would go visit another family member, where we would have our traditional Christmas day lunch. Unfortunately, from one year to another, it was the last Christmas we celebrated like we used to, as within the next year we had to take a flight as we moved to the United States of America. Sadly enough, today many of those gatherings do not have the family pieces that used to be there, but only a few have left because of natural causes? What about the others?!
The socialist regime that took over Venezuela, couldn’t be miserable enough that they took away even the rights for many to celebrate Christmas by causing families to be torn apart because of their horrible actions. Venezuela has a diaspora of seven million outside Venezuela with five million leaving within the last five years. For seven million Venezuelans there’s a story like mine in how Christmas changed for them. Each of them has a family member they never saw again, or haven’t seen in a while that used to sit with them at a Christmas dinner. But Venezuelans aren’t the only ones that live with this bitter taste of massive sadness every time Christmas comes around. Over two million Cubans share the same feeling, as well as millions who fled from Eastern Europe Iron Curtain socialism such as Romanians, Ukrainians, Polish, Hungarians, etc. Ironically enough, this family separation is not talked about by the left, I wonder why?
In the summer of 2018, the Democrat party spent every second of time on television talking about a supposed “child separation” at the border by the Trump administration. In the summer of 2019, they tried repeating the same talking point, even more, desperate that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortes took a picture of her pretending to cry at an empty parking lot to make it look like child separation at the border. Yet Alexandria Ocasio Cortes, wouldn’t pull the same strategy to pretend to cry for the actual families separated by communists/socialist regimes. Ocasio isn’t alone, Betto O’ Rourke, Rep. Ilham Omar, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Rep. Cori Bush, First Lady Michelle Obama, Sen Elizabeth Warren, etc. It seems that actual separations tend to be ignored, but why? It doesn’t fit the radical left socialist agenda they want to push into the United State of America. Ironically enough socialism causes more family separation than any “family separation policy” that customs and border patrol enforces.
The next time a progressive comes to lecture you about “family separation” at the border, show them what socialism causes.
